  2. seeing all of the changes someone has made at their house.
  3. toddler meltdowns that are exponentially funnier with every item of dress-up clothing they have on.
  4. having a lovely family dinner with my parents and a close family friend.
  5. fresh out of the oven apple pie.

  1. coming up with a solution that will make my upcoming flight much simpler.
  2. making it to a baby class even though I really didn’t want to go.
  3. watching our little girl charm a room full of people.
  4. generous kids at the table next to ours who offer our daughter the ice cream sundae that comes with their meal.
  5. wrapping myself in fresh-out-of-the-dryer towels.

  1. finding a slightly better strategy to deal with a kid who won’t sleep other than getting up and watching two episodes of Sesame Street in the middle of the night.
  2. being in such a deep sleep that you don’t remember where you are when you wake up.
  3. seeing all of the great photos of other people’s elaborate Halloween costumes.
  4. not having any plans outside of the house.
  5. turning our pumpkins into something delicious instead of forgetting about them for weeks and then having to deal with a gross mess.
