In which our heroine takes matters into her own hands.
I’ve given up the security blanket of anonymity on the internet. Not that I had much to hide, mind you, but I liked knowing that there were only a select few who knew who I was in the real world.
This all changed yesterday and I have no one to blame but myself and stationary. Business cards to be exact. I have avoided making business cards for the last year because I just couldn’t bring myself to make two different sets of cards – one for my art life, and one for my blog life. The thought of the energy that would be necessary to keep track of two different cards, as well as continuing to keep those two lives separate, made me want to take a nap. So, as I often do, I stuffed the problem into the closet where it could hang out with my abandoned sewing projects.
Following a week that has been spent sorting out my business affairs, I realized that the only way to actually move forward with some projects was to…wait for it…have some way to give my contact information to new people I meet. What a novel concept. And then while designing the cards yesterday I realized that my problem hadn’t magically disappeared. But this time, I didn’t give up and nap. I took that problem and typeset it into submission. And then I hit submit. And in 7-9 days, I will receive the business cards that say I am both Nisha Rocamora AND Violet Diaries.
It is going to feel so good to hand out my first card and tell the person “be sure to check out my blog too!”
