  1. not having to pay library fines even though your books were a day late.
  2. the smell of lilacs that catches you while you walk down the street.
  3. cuddling with someone on the couch while the sun pours through the windows.
  4. getting homemade soup from a friend when you are feeling sick.
  5. friends who check up on you to make sure you aren’t dead, because when they left you four hours ago you weren’t looking so good.

  1. finally reaching the end of a 6 day work week.
  2. going for supper with a friend who you haven’t seen in a week even though she lives three floors down in your apartment building, and catching up on everything you’ve missed.
  3. free dessert because someone messed up your order.
  4. inside jokes with friends that come from conversations where one or both parties are very, very tired.
  5. having a friend who helps you try and come up with a fifth thing to put on your ‘grace in small things’ list because all you can think about is the Hamburglar.

  1. getting pre-sale tickets to leonard cohen.
  2. qualifying for pre-sale tickets because I was coerced into becoming a best buy rewards member by a pushy cashier a year and a half ago.
  3. being too lazy to unsubscribe to the mildly annoying best buy rewards emails.
  4. having a subconscious that KNEW I’d desperately want to go see leonard cohen, and therefore tapped into my inner sloth to prevent me from dealing with the annoying emails.
  5. receiving an email (of the previously annoying variety) that said I qualify for the tickets.
  6. leonard cohen.  dude.

  1. the homeless man who said ‘take me home, beautiful’ instead of asking me for spare change.
  2. snorting involuntarily and then giggling to myself on a busy street because a homeless man asked me to take him home and no one else heard it.
  3. tearing down paper that was covering windows and then stomping on it.
  4. wasabi peas.
  5. knowing that the only things I have to do tonight are take a hot bath and go to bed.
